ZWCAD Nesting and panel optimisation layouts


Description of specific functions of the ZWNesting program :
  • Angle of elements rotation - we define the angle of rotation of the elements being laid. The program will try to arrange the elements by turning them several times. The function is not yet supported.
  • Margin - additional distance between the elements being laid. The margin is given in drawing units.
  • Number of combinations - the number of attempts to arrange elements proposed by the user. The order of elements is drawn, which are then stacked. The best layout is automatically selected.
  • Number of points on the arc - If the element contains an arc, points will be placed on the arcs. With this option, we determine how many points should be on a particular arc.
  • The way of arranging elements - the elements can be moved or copied to the layout.
  • Concurrent processing - the option allows you to determine whether ZWCAD is to take advantage of the possibilities of multi-core processors, where possible. Using more cores reduces the calculation time.
  • Permutation Limit - Defines the maximum number of elements at which all combinations of element positions will be checked. The use of permutations for more than 8 elements can significantly extend the calculation time even up to several hours.
    In the table, we included the number of systems to be converted depending on the number of permutation elements. 
  • By default, the permutation limit is set to 6 elements, which corresponds to 720 attempts to arrange elements.
  • Level of element randomness - ZWNesting by default tries to place large elements at the beginning and then to fit small ones. However, we have some influence on the order of arranging elements. Moving the slider to the right increases the probability of inserting a small element before the big one, while sliding it to the left increases it. The balanced level is set by default.
